First Internet Branch - contact Sylvia Hickey
For 2023 the First Internet branch will now meet on-line the last Tuesday of the month
The First Internet Branch is so named because it is the first M.U. on-line branch. We opened on Zoom in November 2020 with the official “Opening a Branch” service led by our Diocesan President who enrolled the members. There are, as then, 12 of us. We are a discussion/project based branch presently working on a grant funded project with a local Domestic Abuse Refuge. We meet monthly on line but twice a year we meet in person for a social meal out together. Half our members are working mums and as of May 1st 2023 the average age of our branch members was 62.
The First Internet Branch ran a Quiz Night and raised £252, additional funds for our work with Harbour Refuge.

They have bought a bike shed to accommodate childrens` bicycles given to Harbour Refuge but for which they had no storage facilities. |

The £200 was made up mainly from the sale of items made from fabric given to the branch by Lynne Tembey, gathered from her travels when Worldwide President. Huge thanks from the branch and Harbour Refuge to Lynne for her generosiity and also to the helpers who made scarves, cushion covers and tote style bags etc.
Sylvia Hickey presented our Worldwide President, Kathleen with a bag made from the same material | ![]() |
