Provincial Prayer Capsule visits Newcastle Diocese

Provincial Prayer Capsule visits Newcastle Diocese

The capsule is travelling through the dioceses of the Northern Province to celebrate the 150 anniversary of the Mothers' Union. In each Diocese photos of significant places, and MU members and events will be added to the capsule. This week, before the time capsule is passed on to Durham Diocese at Chester- le- Street next Sunday 17.5.26, the capule will visit: Holystone; the Roman Wall where the sycamore tree used to stand at Sycamore Gap; Holy Island; St. Francis, High Heaton MU meeting; the Quizz at St. Nicholas, Gosforth; and Howick Hall.

Sunday 10 May: The choir of Hexham Abbey was the venue for the handover of the time capsule from Carlisle Diocese MU Diocese to Newcastle Diocese MU.
Rev Sheila Auld wrote Newcastle's 150th prayer contribution for the capsule. This will go in the capsule on its journey to St Paul's.
The Vice President of Carlisle, Carole Gardner handed over to the Newcastle MU President, Margy Tasker Brown. Carlisle MU President's husband was ill, so she was unable to be in Hexham Abbey.
The Carlisle MU chaplain Rev Canon Angela Whittaker and Newcastle chaplain, Rev Anne Marr, led the service.
After the service refreshments, and a tour of the crypt of Hexham Abbey were offered
Monday 11th May: The Capsule went to Holystone, Lady's Well. Legend has it that St Ninian baptised many early Christians here in Medieval times,
In the afternoon the Capsule then travelled to St Luke's Wallsend
