I am sure that we all, as members of MU, will be thankful that we have a new Archbishop of Canterbury.
Rt Revd Sarah Mullally was the first woman to be appointed as Bishop of London 7 years ago. Now she has been elected and called to break new ground for the Anglican Communion as its first woman Archbishop. The weight of responsibility laid upon her is immense, but she approaches her role with hope and trust in God as guide. A fitting welcome has been made by WWP Kathleen Snow and CE Bev Julian on behalf of MU. Click Here
MU members recall that 150 years ago Mary Sumner broke ground as the first woman to speak publicly at the Portsmouth Council.
Archbishop Sarah’s first address was, as you might expect, sound and hopeful. One line caught my attention: the proverb; “If you want to travel fast, go alone; if you want to travel far, travel together.”
This resonates with our WWP Kathleen’s call ‘We are stronger together.’
As we journey on, and as we pray for our new Archbishop in her ministry, let us Join in, joined up together in faith, and encourage one another along the road.
Your sister in Christ,
Anne M
